Planning for data visualisation
Planning the approach to dataviz, with careful attention to each phase, will save time and improve end product. So, we’re now moving from a point of visual discovery to everyday database (we looked at visual discovery in the last video).
Prep: Getting ready for work
Talk + Listen: Gaining further context, understanding who the audience is, think of a good story, validate it, work with colleagues to ensure that it is on mark
Sketch + Design: Drafting by hand using pen and paper
Prototype + Improve: First visual created isn’t the final visual
In conclusion,

In conclusion,
- Transitioning visualizations from “work product” to “client ready” requires attention to detail
- Planning the approach to dataviz creation helps ensure each element of the process is sound
- Sketching visualizations will ultimately save time and effort
- Producing a final dataviz is a study in iteration, not a “one-and-done” experience
